-_-
Let's start from the beginning of my musicality. (whoa, spellcheck isn't underlining musicality red...I'll have to see if that's actually a real word
When I hit eigth grade, I realized all those bands were lame and I was being a trendy little sell-out...so in order to be the opposite of sell-out and conformity, I refused to listen to anything past the year 1999. It was Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots for me...even though technically, I was selling out and conformming. It's actually more pathetic to conform to "non-conformity" than be a scenefag (not homophobic). Actually, both are equally pathetic, but yeah, that's how I was.
When I was a freshmen in high school, I met some open minded guys, who offered me a new type of music I never vowed to listen to. Bands like Disturbed, Godsmack, Rage Against The Machine and others of that caliber. "Stupid" was my reply, and I continued on with Grunge. And then, I realized I liked classic rock. Namely Credence Clearwater Revival and Lynyrd Skynyrd. And I had GTA: San Andreas radio stations to thank! Go K-DST (and RadioX, they started me with Rage's "Killing In The Name"). But yes, it was like that. It was also around the time I learned of a magical gift from God called "Limewire". And after a while of using Limewire, I realized it was for armatures and switched to Utorrents
And then I met a wonderful set of musical elitists in the Rooster Teeth forum thread "What Are You Listening To Right Now?". Even though they really give people who listen to "the wrong music" allot of shit (e.g. Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park [NEVER mention Linkin Park], Coldplay, etc.), I have to thank the more courteous of them for more genre branching (I took guilty pleasure in joining them in beratings occasionally). Right now, I'm slowly falling in love with bands such as Muse, The Future Sound Of London, Aes Dana, Solar Fields (Aes Dana and Solar Fields are in the same genre pretty much, but Solar Fields was the first of that genre I fell in love with, thanks to the Mirror's Edge OST), video game OSTs (Devil May Cry [love the fusion of hard rock and techno] and Silent Hill mainly), however; I absolutely refuse to listen to metalcore (e.g. Mastadon, Orchids, Killswitch Engage, etc.). And I'm not slowly going to decide I like them, I KNOW that I despise playing your instruments like a retard and screaming like a chimpanzee with a drill shoved in its spine. Even though I made a slip-up in liking Slipknot, quite recently I've outgrown them, and made a big deal of them in one of my fanfictions "Ti Amo" (continued on Fanfiction.net, for those who go looking in my gallery). They hate Slipknot actually, not considering it metal. In all honesty, it sounds just like their metalcore bands...in fact, I'd prefer Slipknot over those other bands any day. I don't know why, Slipknot just slightly appeals to me more so than those other bands.
This is also a good time to mention I'm picky with songs I listen to. For example, I'll probably end up deleting most of the songs on the new Alice In Chains and Pearl Jam albums I've recently acquired (mostly to preserve room on my MP3 player). Some songs are absolute keepers, while others are simply expendable. I'll listen to them if they're on the radio or something, but I won't keep them forever. Sort of with Disturbed and Godsmack, I still like some of their songs, and I'll listen to them if on the radio, but I don't want to waste space on my filling MP3 player for songs I don't listen to that much. I also have to damn my modest tendencies, because my mom offered to get me a 12 gig MP3 player instead of the 8 gig one I have now. But I said "whatever's cheaper". Urgh, but oh well. Once I save up some money, I'll be able to buy some new stuff I want (mostly a new computer, because this one is slow as molasses and can't play video games).
So yeah, I just felt like writing my Music Life Story to kill some time. House starts in a few hours, and hopefully I'll squeeze in some time to play Resident Evil 4 before bed (I'm playing through with the Chicago Typewriter, infinite RPG, and Broken Butterfly Revolver. Why the Broken Butterfly when you have the uber Tommygun and RPG, you ask? Because it's a revolver and simply bad ass, that's why, even if a regular gun
